VISA REQUIRED, PASSPORT REQUIRED
OVERVIEW
For US citizens a passport valid for six months past date of entry with at least one blank visa page, a valid visa and onward or return ticket are required to enter Bangladesh. The United States is on a list of countries eligible for visitor (tourist) visas on arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh has not widely publicized their policies for visas on arrival. You may encounter delays in airport visa issuance or be refused entry to countries enroute to Bangladesh if you do not have a visa prior to arrival in Bangladesh. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you obtain a visa prior to arrival.
The following applies for both U.S. & Non U.S. Citizens:
TOURIST TRAVEL:
Step 1 - Gather the Following Requirements

Current Passport |

Applicant must submit their current passport. Bangladesh visas are stamped into a passport, therefore the the original passport is required.
Note: In order to obtain Bangladesh visas, passport must have one blank visa page (typically the last few pages of the passport are marked "Amendment" and are not valid for visas) and must be valid for at least six months past the date of entry into Bangladesh. |

Photo Requirement |

|
Applicant must submit three (3) identical, color, passport style photographs. The photos must be recent and generally should not be the same used for the passport itself. Passport photos can be obtained at most post offices, Kinko's, Walgreens, etc.

Proof of Travel |
|
|
|
Applicant must submit a computer-generated itinerary from a travel agency or online booking tool (such as e-confirmation from an airline or Travelocity, Orbitz, etc) showing departure from the U.S. and arrival/departure for Bangladesh.
Although applicant may be submitting documents along with other family members, when submitted to an embassy or consulate, applications are treated individually. If applicant is under 18 years old, include the following:
1) Color copies of parents valid passports. If either, or both, parents do not have valid passports, include color copies of driver's license or other state issued ID. If either, or both, parents are not US citizens, include copies of ID and copies of US visa or permanent resident card (Green card).
2) Include a letter of authorization for child to obtain visa and travel.

|
|
Applicant must submit a Business Cover Letter (BCL) from a U.S. company. The BCL must be an original signed document on company letterhead indicating the date, duration and purpose of travel to Bangladesh, list a contact and address at the host company, and observe moral and financial responsibility for the applicant. Please review the example below.
