REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER SIERRA LEONE
OVERVIEW
For US citizens a passport and visa are required. Visitors are strongly encouraged to obtain visas in advance of travel to Sierra Leone. Visitors to Sierra Leone are required to show International Certificates of Vaccination (yellow card) upon arrival at the airport with a record of vaccination against yellow fever.
TOURIST VISA:
Step 1 - Gather the Following Requirements

Current Passport |
|
|
|
Applicant must submit their current passport. Sierra Leone visas are stamped into a passport, therefore the the original passport is required.
Note: In order to obtain Sierra Leone visas, passport must have one blank visa page (typically the last few pages of the passport are marked "Amendment" and are not valid for visas) and must be valid for at least six months past the date of entry into Sierra Leone. |

Photo Requirement |
|
|
|
Applicant must submit two (2) identical, color, passport style photographs. The photos must be recent and generally should not be the same used for the passport itself. Passport photos can be obtained at most post offices, Kinko's, Walgreens, etc. |

1.3 |
Proof of Travel |
|
|
|
Applicant must submit a computer-generated itinerary from a travel agency or online booking tool (such as e-confirmation from an airline or Travelocity, Orbitz, etc) showing departure from the U.S. and arrival/departure for Sierra Leone.
Although applicant may be submitting documents along with other family members, when submitted to an embassy or consulate, applications are treated individually. If applicant is under 18 years old, include the following:
1) Color copies of parents valid passports. If either, or both, parents do not have valid passports, include color copies of driver's license or other state issued ID. If either, or both, parents are not US citizens, include copies of ID and copies of US visa or permanent resident card (Green card).
2) Include a letter of authorization for child to obtain visa and travel. |

Applicant must submit original copy of an International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever. |

Bank Statement |
|
|
|
Applicant must submit a recent personal bank statement showing a balance of more than $100 USD per day in country. Statement must show applicants name. Account numbers can be blacked out. |

Visa Application |

Applicant must submit one completed Sierra Leone visa application. Applications should be printed single-sided and signed in blue or black ink only.

BUSINESS VISA:
- Submit your valid, signed U.S. Passport, must have at least 12 months remaining validity and contain at least 2 blank visa pages
- 1 VisaApplication Form, completed and signed
- 1 Passport-type photograph required
- International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever and Cholera (recommended by the Embassy)
- Copy of round trip airline tickets
- A profile of the applicant's company and a letter of invitation from a registered company or organization in Sierra Leone.
- A business letter of responsibility is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:

The letter must explain all of the following:
- Nature of business to be performed
- Name and address of reference to be visited
- Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
- The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.
- Letter of invitation from company to be visited in Sierra Leone
